What is the religious ruling regarding a wife who is accused of adultery and stealing money from her lover, and is demanding an involuntary divorce with exaggerated financial conditions? Is the husband entitled to divorce her, and what follows from that in terms of a compensatory gift (nafaqat al-mut'ah)?

The default assumption for Muslim women is innocence and a good presumption of their character. It is impermissible to accuse any of them of zina (fornication/adultery) except with four witnesses; otherwise, the accuser is subject to the hadd punishment for slandering. If a husband accuses his wife, he must perform li'an (mutual imprecation).
