What is the advice offered to the semi-committed who outwardly commit for the purpose of achieving worldly gains, and stop committing or apostatize if these gains are not realized, or abandon prayer if they achieve what they desire from this world?

Prayer is of great importance in Islam and is one of the greatest branches of faith. However, some may fall into hidden polytheism through it, such as one who prays out of ostentation or solely for a worldly need. Allah does not accept any deed except that which is purely for His sake. So, whoever intends by his deed only the world, will have no share in the Hereafter. And whoever desires the Hereafter, the world will come to him willingly, and vice versa. Sincerity in worship is achieved by loving and glorifying Allah and hoping for His reward. A Muslim should intend by his worship the Face of Allah and the Hereafter, and seek help through prayer and patience in his worldly affairs. And whoever worships Allah on an edge, if good befalls him, he is content, but if tribulation befalls him, he turns back, losing both this world and the Hereafter.
