Is the statement: "Does Allah love you? He loves you to the extent that you sin at night, and He awakens you in the morning, and He has not taken your soul, awaiting your repentance, while He is not in need of you, and without anything in return, simply because He loves you," legitimate?

The phrase is not Islamically sound, for Allah's deferment of punishment for sins and His not holding one accountable for them in this world does not signify His love for the servant. Rather, it could be a gradual enticement (istidraj) and a sign of His displeasure, as Allah Almighty says: "And let not those who disbelieve think that Our deferring of punishment for them is good for themselves. We only defer it for them that they may increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment" (Aal 'Imran 3:178), and "Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children is [because] We hasten to them with good things? Rather, they perceive not" (Al-Mu'minun 23:55-56). The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty grants respite to the oppressor, but when He seizes him, He does not let him go," and "When you see Allah giving a servant what he desires of this worldly life despite his disobedience, then it is only a gradual enticement (istidraj)."
