Hanging the blue bead is a form of hanging amulets, which is forbidden in Islamic law. It may constitute major or minor shirk (definition) (polytheism), depending on the belief of the one who does it. There is no legitimate proof that the blue bead absorbs harmful waves from the envious eye. Rather, the belief that it protects against the evil eye causes the heart to become attached to other than Allah, which contradicts Tawhid (definition) (monotheism). The correct understanding is that affliction by the evil eye is by Allah's decree, and a Muslim should seek protection through legitimate ruqyah (definition) (incantations) and supplications, not through amulets.
