Scholars differed concerning Dhul-Kifl: Was he a prophet or a righteous man? The more preponderant opinion is that he was a prophet, as his name is mentioned among the prophets, and he is mentioned in the Qur’an as being among the patient and the good. As for the hadith narrated about Al-Kifl, who did not refrain from sin, it is weak. Even if it were authentic, he is not the Dhul-Kifl mentioned in the Qur’an. As for the grave attributed to him in Iraq, there is no sound basis for it.
