The question

The answer

If the fornication occurred before the woman embraced Islam, then Islam erases the sins and transgressions that preceded it, provided that her submission to Islam is excellent and she fulfills its obligations. If the fornication occurred after her conversion to Islam, it does not affect the validity of the marriage, but she must ensure the womb is clear. As for whether to keep her or separate from her, that depends on her state after the immorality. If she repents with sincere repentance, then it is better to keep her and conceal her sin. If she does not repent, or if the husband strongly suspects that she will return to immorality, then divorcing her is more appropriate; because keeping her then would be considered cuckolding (dayatha).
