What is the ruling on using gel beads in children's diapers and glycol in confectionery flavorings? Are they both extracted from gelatin? Does all jelly contain gelatin? And what should we do if we are offered jelly sweets?

If the gelatin is extracted from an animal that is permissible to eat, and was slaughtered according to Islamic law (dhakah shar'iyyah), then there is no objection to using it. However, if it is extracted from an impure animal like a pig, or from an animal permissible to eat but not slaughtered according to Islamic law, and it has not undergone chemical processing that transforms it into another substance, then it is not permissible to use it because it is impure. It is legislated to inquire about the source of products suspected of containing forbidden ingredients in their manufacturing, as this is a way of safeguarding one's religion.
