The rights of parents entail showing kindness to them in all matters and treating them with goodness, as Allah the Almighty has commanded. Among the most important manifestations of this are obeying them, and supplicating and seeking forgiveness for them, especially in their old age. The Noble Quran also mentions examples of righteous children who honored their parents, such as Yahya and Isa (peace be upon them). After the parents' death, their dutifulness continues by fulfilling their debts, performing Hajj on their behalf, and supplicating and seeking forgiveness for them. Practical examples of honoring parents include what Abdullah ibn Umar did by maintaining ties with his father's beloved ones, and what Abu Hurairah did in his dutifulness to his mother.
