Does Islam permit compelling a wife to enter her husband's home by force, and does a man have the right to file a lawsuit to compel her return by force?

If a woman has concluded a marriage contract with a man and her dowry has been paid to her, it becomes incumbent upon her to surrender herself to her husband and to reside with him in the marital home. It is not permissible for her to refuse unless there is a legitimate Sharia (definition)-compliant justification. If she does refuse, the husband has the right to bring the matter before a judge to compel her return. Jurists are of the opinion that if a woman refuses to reside in the marital home without a valid reason, she is not entitled to maintenance or housing until she returns, thus becoming disobedient (nashiz). Islam has legislated the guardianship of the man and the obedience of the woman to him in what is good, for the management and stability of family affairs. A woman's obedience to her husband in what is good is an act of devotion to Allah.
