Is the wife's action of filing false reports against her husband, which led to his summons by the police and public prosecution, and the subsequent dismissal of the investigation due to the malicious nature of the reports, considered a "nushooz" (disobedience) that warrants the annulment of her spousal maintenance?

The wife's rebellion (nushuz) is her showing superiority and disobedience to her husband. Therefore, the wife's repeated departures to file malicious, false complaints against her husband are considered nushuz, because she left without his permission and with the intention of harming him. Nushuz results in the forfeiture of her right to maintenance, clothing, and housing. If the wife does not desist, the husband is permitted to withhold her (prevent her from divorce and restrict her) until she redeems herself from him with money, as Allah Almighty says: "And do not restrain them [from marriage] in order to take away part of what you have given them, unless they commit a clear immorality." Scholars have interpreted "clear immorality" as adultery, disobedience, and nushuz.
