Is a sane, adult person who knows about Islam excused for abandoning prayer, fasting, and good deeds against their will due to a great trial they fear will lead to shirk, and would their ruling be like that of the People of the Fatra, so that Allah would forgive them and they would not abide eternally in Hell?

The question is vague, and it is unclear how this person refrained from obligatory acts of worship out of fear of shirk (polytheism). We would like to highlight the following points:

1. The tribulation of the Dajjal (Antichrist) is the greatest tribulation on the face of the earth since the creation of Adam. 2. There is no ambiguity or tribulation for which there isn't a ruling in religion. There is no justification for abandoning obligatory acts of worship. It is obligatory to ask people of knowledge about what is unclear. 3. The ruling on one who abandons prayer, fasting, and other obligatory duties, while acknowledging their obligation, has been explained in previous fatwas. 4. Only disbelievers will abide eternally in Hellfire. No specific person can be definitively assigned to Paradise or Hellfire unless Allah and His Messenger have ruled so for them.
