Will a young man be held accountable before God for his wife's actions, such as her insistence on wearing a tight-fitting jilbab and listening to music, and what should he do if she insists on that, especially given that the matter has reached the point of contemplating divorce?
A wife must obey her husband by adhering to the lawful and refraining from listening to forbidden music. It is not permissible for her to refuse obedience in this regard, because there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. The husband is the guardian and is responsible for his household; he must command them, forbid them, and reform them. If he falls short in this, he bears the sin of negligence.
The husband should strive to invite her to goodness and obedience to Allah, offer her some booklets and tapes, take her to mosques and preaching centers, and provide her with good company that helps her adhere to obedience to Allah. If she insists on committing sins, then it is preferable that he divorce her.
