The answer

The ruling concerning yellowish or brownish discharge (Ṣufrah and Kudrah) according to our school of thought is that they are considered menstruation if they occur within the usual period, or if they are continuous with blood, provided they persist for a full day and night. If they persist for less than that, they are not considered menstruation. Sexual intercourse during menstruation is forbidden. If it occurred due to ignorance, we hope there is no sin in it, and the majority of scholars do not require expiation for it, though it is recommended. However, the Hanbalis view expiation as obligatory, which is to give half a dinar in charity.
