Did Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, experience الاحتلام (nocturnal emission), and is الاحتلام from Satan, especially considering Aisha's narration about the presence of seminal fluid on his garment?

Scholars have differed on the issue of prophets, peace be upon them, experiencing nocturnal emissions (wet dreams), with three main opinions:

1. Impermissibility: This is the most well-known view, and they argue that nocturnal emissions are from Satan, and prophets are immune from him. They also cited the hadith of Umm Salama, who mentioned that he, peace be upon him, used to wake up in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) without a nocturnal emission, and an narration from Ibn Abbas (No prophet ever had a nocturnal emission), although this narration has a weak chain of transmission.

2. Permissibility: Some scholars held this view, citing the same hadith of Umm Salama. They interpret the exception "without a nocturnal emission" as indicating the permissibility of nocturnal emissions for him, otherwise the exception would be meaningless.

3. Elaboration/Distinction: This is the moderate view, which differentiates between two types of nocturnal emissions:

Permissible: The emission of semen as a natural bodily outflow without the interference of Satan.

Impermissible: That which occurs due to Satan's manipulation in a dream, and this does not happen to prophets due to their infallibility.

This view is what Ibn Kathir and Al-Ramli chose, and they consider it the most probable one that reconciles the evidence.
