What is the authenticity of the hadiths that address the virtues of different ages for a Muslim, such as recording good deeds for parents before puberty, a Muslim's safety from afflictions at forty, the easing of accountability at fifty, being granted repentance at sixty, the love of the inhabitants of heaven and earth at seventy, the forgiveness of sins and intercession for his family at eighty and ninety, and what good is recorded for him and his bad deeds are forgiven in old age?

The hadith with the meaning: "When a servant reaches forty years of age, Allah diverts three types of afflictions from him..." is very weak. Its weakness cannot be compensated by the multiplicity of its chains of transmission; rather, it increases in weakness due to the presence of unknown narrators and denounced reports in its Sanads. Imams of Hadith such as Al-Bayhaqi, Ibn Al-Jawzi, Al-Iraqi, Ibn Kathir, Al-Mu'allimi, and Al-Albani have explicitly stated its weakness or fabrication, due to its contradiction with the hadith in Al-Bukhari: "Allah has left no excuse for a person whose life He has prolonged until he reached sixty years of age."

Nevertheless, even if the hadith were authentic, it could be interpreted to apply to righteous and upright people, whom Allah honors with what is mentioned therein. As for the dissolute, they do not deserve this honor. Life is an opportunity to prepare for the afterlife, and the older one gets, the greater should be the effort in worship.
