Is subscribing to an auction website that deducts one point ($1) for every bid, and in which the winner is the one who submits the lowest unique bid, permissible or forbidden?

What has been mentioned is not the religiously permissible auction sale. Rather, it is akin to gambling, or it is gambling itself, because the participant expends his money in the hope of acquiring the item for the lowest price, while he does not know how much others are paying. Instead, he enters into an auction based on gharar (excessive uncertainty), and for this reason, the aforementioned transaction is religiously forbidden.
