Is the husband sinful for refraining from procreation, using permissible birth control methods, due to his wife's lack of interest in raising children and taking care of their health and education? And is a child a right for both spouses in all circumstances? And is the wife sinful for not obeying her husband in these matters related to the children? And would shunning her be an injustice to her?

Married life should be based on understanding and cooperation, not on orders, actions, and reactions, following the example of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

Scholars have differed regarding the obligation of a wife to serve her children. Some hold that it is not obligatory, while those who deem it obligatory restrict it to what is customary.

It is not permissible to insult or beat children except for their discipline, within the bounds of Islamic law.

Procreation is a right of both spouses, and neither of them may prevent the other from it except with a legitimate excuse.
