Is the American report that predicts the end of the world within 50 years due to meteorites and global warming, and the resulting annihilation of nations, humanity's return to primitiveness, oxygen depletion, increased diseases, and the submersion of American lands, true and considered a form of fortune-telling?

Knowledge of the unseen is something God has exclusively reserved for Himself. Therefore, claiming knowledge of the unseen is a forbidden form of divination (kahana), which involves the soothsayer (kahin) claiming knowledge of secrets and insight into the unseen. The jurists have unanimously agreed on the prohibition of soothsaying and going to a soothsayer, and that believing a soothsayer is an act of disbelief, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever goes to a soothsayer or a diviner and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him)." Divination encompasses every claim of knowing the unseen, and anyone who makes such a claim, whether an astrologer or a diviner, is a soothsayer, because claiming knowledge of the unseen contradicts Allah's saying: "Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone except whom He has approved of messengers." Meteorological forecasts are an exception to this, because they are based on scientific data and are not a claim to knowledge of the unseen.
