How can a Muslim know that Allah is pleased with him, that his sins are forgiven, and his place in Paradise or Hell?

The Muslim performs good deeds and draws closer to Allah by refraining from prohibitions, hoping for His mercy and fearing His punishment, while maintaining a good opinion of Him. This is the state of the believer who walks towards Allah between fear and hope, and does not definitively declare anyone for Paradise or Hell. We hope for forgiveness and Paradise for the righteous among the believers by His mercy, and we seek forgiveness for their wrongdoers and fear for them without despairing of them.
