What is the validity of the saying that the phrase "May God make you happy" leads to Hell, and what is the wisdom behind that? Also, what is the validity of the saying "There is no shyness in religion"?

The phrase "God is pleased" (يسعد الله) has not been mentioned in the Quran or Sunnah, neither in affirmation nor in negation. The fundamental principle regarding divine attributes is to affirm what Allah and His Messenger have affirmed and to negate what they have negated. The terms explicitly stated in the texts are definitive. As for terms not explicitly negated or affirmed, one should consider the intention of the speaker. It is better to express the meaning with "God rejoices" (يفرح الله) or "God is content" (يرضي الله), as joy and contentment are affirmed in the texts.

The phrase "there is no shyness in religion" (لا حياء في الدين) often means that shyness is not legislated when it comes to understanding religion and asking about what one needs to know. It serves as an introduction to asking about matters that might typically cause shyness, as Umm Sulaym did when she said, "Indeed, Allah is not shy of the truth." It is better to replace this phrase with what Umm Sulaym said, because its absolute usage might suggest that shyness is not part of religion, which is incorrect, as shyness is a branch of faith.
