Is it permissible for a male student to work and study with his female foreign classmate on their graduation project, and what should he do if it is not permissible?

It is well-known that interaction between men and women is a major door to fitna (temptation/strife), and for this reason, Islamic law has warned against the fitna of women. It is usually the case that a man's participation with a non-mahram woman in preparing a project is not free from causes of fitna and risks to his religion and honor. Therefore, it is obligatory to avoid this and to seek a male colleague to work with. If he cannot find one and there is a need to work with a female colleague, there is no harm, provided that seclusion (khalwa) and unnecessary conversation are avoided, for one's religion is the most precious thing a Muslim possesses.
