How can one deal with feelings of distress and the desire for death, wishing for Paradise and relief from trials and tests, while experiencing difficulty with patience and occasionally uttering words indicative of dissatisfaction?

Distress and pain during a calamity are not blameworthy, and grief does not contradict patience and contentment. However, wishing for death is forbidden. If one is compelled, they should say: "O Allah, grant me life as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die if death is better for me."

Legitimate patience is: "restraining oneself from what is disliked, holding one's tongue from complaining, enduring with difficulty, and awaiting relief." Patience should be exercised at the first shock.

One must beware of being discontent with Allah's decrees, and remembering the reward of the patient makes the calamity easier to bear. Prayer is one of the greatest aids in enduring calamities with patience.
