Is it permissible to cite divine decree (al-qadar) as an excuse for a calamity that occurred due to negligence, and what is the difference between such a calamity and a sudden calamity that was not caused by human action, such as the citing of divine decree by our master Adam?

It is permissible to cite destiny (al-qadar) in times of calamity, for solace and patience. Patience and submission are obligatory. However, it is not permissible to cite it in the context of sins and transgressions, except after repenting from them. Indeed, Adam cited destiny to Moses concerning the calamity that befell them, namely their expulsion from Paradise, not concerning the sin itself, because sin requires repentance. Therefore, citing destiny in times of calamity is permissible, and likewise, citing destiny in the context of a sin after repenting from it is permissible. However, citing destiny as a justification for a sin or for persisting in it is not permissible.
