Is it permissible for a wife to learn English and look for a job without her husband's knowledge, due to her feeling unsafe with him after his recent actions?

You have the right to security and reassurance concerning the rights Allah has enjoined upon your husband towards you, such as housing, maintenance, and clothing, all provided equitably. It is forbidden for him to harm you without just cause. However, it is not permissible for you to leave your home without your husband's permission, nor to neglect your trust in raising your children. You may advise him and explain your fears to him. If he does not respond, then seek the help of the Muslim community to ensure justice for you.

There is no religious impediment to learning a foreign language, as long as it does not lead to any religious prohibition. There is also no impediment to a woman working, provided she adheres to the Islamic regulations, such as observing the hijab, avoiding private seclusion with non-mahram men, and adhering to Islamic manners.

We caution you that it is not permissible for a Muslim to emigrate to non-Muslim countries and reside there if they cannot establish the rituals of their religion or if they do not feel safe for themselves.
