Is it valid to use the two noble verses: (And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven, and they continued ascending through it, (14) they would surely say, "Our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we are a people bewitched." (15)) as evidence for scientific miracles, given that the symptoms mentioned occur to astronauts, despite the consensus of exegetes that this statement comes from disbelievers out of denial and obstinacy?

The miraculous nature of the Qur’an attests to the truthfulness of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. The Qur’an has been described as a miracle due to the proven inability of humans to produce anything similar to it. Its miraculous nature is intended to demonstrate its truthfulness and that it is a revelation from Allah. Other terms with the same meaning have appeared in the Qur’an and Sunnah, such as (Ayah - Sign), (Bayyinah - Clear Proof), (Burhan - Proof), and (Sultan - Authority).

The aspect through which the Qur’an challenged the Arabs was its exquisite composition, not other aspects mentioned, such as its miraculous nature regarding the unseen or its legislative miracles. As for contemporary scientific exegesis, it deals with Qur’anic verses that allude to scientific issues, but with very strict controls. Some who ventured into this field were not specialists in Islamic sciences and interpreted verses in ways that the words do not bear, such as interpreting the verse: (And whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes his breast constricted and tight, as if he were climbing into the sky), with the recently discovered shortness of breath when ascending to high places. This interpretation is incorrect because the Salaf (early generations) were unanimous that these words are uttered by disbelievers as a form of denial of the message.
