Is a woman in Islam inherently disposed to abasement, submission, and seeking to please a man, even if the fault is his?

If a husband claims that it is his right to verbally abuse his wife and that she must remain silent and apologize, then he has uttered a monstrous lie, a falsehood, and has invented a lie against God. Islam has encouraged the good treatment of a wife by her husband, commanded that they be treated with kindness, and warned against assaulting or oppressing them. The Sacred Law does not condone a husband's oppression; rather, it commands him to be gentle and to treat her well. It is not an obligation upon the wife, according to the Sacred Law, to apologize to her husband or appease him if he becomes angry without a reason stemming from her. However, her initiative to do so indicates her good nature. Both spouses should work together for the stability of the family by fulfilling their mutual rights. The wife has the right to maintenance sufficient for her needs, and whoever says that she is obliged to accept only a little is mistaken. It is not permissible to judge the Sacred Law by people's erroneous actions, for the Quran guides to that which is most upright. Marriage through affinity is a blessing, and each party should treat the other kindly and strengthen this bond. A woman is permitted to seek redress from whoever has wronged her, whether her husband or his family, in accordance with the legitimate controls. And God does not show favoritism to anyone in His rulings, and entertaining bad thoughts about God is characteristic of the hypocrites and a path to perdition.
