What is the religious ruling on a man absolving his wife of her rights after divorcing her?

Islam is keen on the stability of married life and has made the marriage contract a solemn covenant aimed at permanence and building an effective family. Therefore, it detests divorce and everything that weakens this bond. However, it permits it when cohabitation becomes impossible after exhausting all means of reconciliation. So, if a man divorces his wife for a valid reason and gives her her rights, he has done well.
