Which is greater in reward and more compliant with Allah's command: the woman who stays at home in obedience to His saying (And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance. And establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger...), or the working woman who has no urgent need [to work] and spends most of her salary on charitable causes, without committing any শরীয়াহ prohibitions?

There is no objection to a woman working in a profession that suits her natural disposition and physical capacity, provided that there is no fitna (temptation/discord), Islamic legal rulings are observed, and it is with her husband's permission if she is married. Her work may be recommended or obligatory depending on her situation and need for it. It may be better and more preferable than her staying at home if it is for a good cause, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Yes, go pick from your palm trees, for perhaps you may give charity and do a good deed."

However, a woman's staying at home is better for her modesty and chastity, especially if she has a husband and children whose care and upbringing she is responsible for, as she is a guardian and accountable for her flock, according to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If a woman prays her five [daily prayers], fasts her month [Ramadan], guards her chastity, and obeys her husband, she will enter Paradise from whichever of its gates she wishes."

Therefore, the preference depends on the woman's situation and the nature of her work, and whether she has a husband and children who need her care, or whether staying at home is better than her going out for work that the Muslim community does not need or that can be undertaken by men.
