How do we differentiate between what is stated in the noble verse: "And when adversity touches man, he invokes Us; then when We bestow on him favor from Us, he says, 'I received it only because of knowledge I have,' Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know," and having a good opinion of Allah; so that we do not fall into "I received it only because of knowledge I have" when supplicating with a good opinion of the supplication being answered?

The meaning of the verse: "He said: 'I have been given this because of knowledge I possess,'" is that the speaker claims he is deserving of what he was given due to knowledge he possesses, or that Allah knew there was good in him, so He bestowed it upon him. There is no correlation between a believer's supplication and good opinion of Allah, and this belief. For the believer believes that the good he obtains is solely due to Allah's grace and mercy.
