What is the ruling on combining and shortening prayers while traveling, when there is a nearby mosque but one does not pray in it?

If your stay in the country does not exceed four days (excluding the days of entry and exit), then it is permissible for you to avail yourselves of the concessions of travel, namely combining and shortening prayers. However, if the duration of your stay exceeds that, then your ruling is that of a resident, and it is not permissible for you to shorten or combine prayers due to travel. We would like to point out that a woman's prayer in the mosque has greater reward, and combining prayers for a traveler is a concession, not the preferred option, whereas shortening prayers is recommended according to the majority of scholars. There is no necessary correlation between combining and shortening prayers.
