Why do things beyond the couple's capacity occur, preventing them from meeting, despite their prayers and Islam's urging for reunion?

For thanksgiving for blessings is an act of worship for the recipient, while patience, contentment, and submission to Allah's decree are acts of worship when calamity strikes, along with reliance on Allah, having a good opinion of Him, and persistently supplicating with certainty. It is ignorance to be annoyed or object to the reversal of circumstances; instead, one must believe in and submit to Allah's wisdom. In times of calamity, a Muslim should look to those who are afflicted more severely than them so as not to grieve or despair.
