What is the ruling on hanging or placing large clocks that emit loud chimes in mosques, especially during prayers, Friday sermons, and religious lectures?

There is no harm in placing a clock in the mosque if it serves a benefit and its sound does not disturb the worshippers. It is permissible for its sound to serve as an alert for the time of the Adhan or Iqamah. However, it is forbidden for its sound to be loud enough to disturb the worshippers, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibition of raising one's voice with the Qur'an in the mosque.
