Is it permissible for me to perform 'Umrah while currently having debts that I am unable to repay?
There is no objection to accepting the offer to go for 'Umrah at the brother's expense, provided that a mahram (unmarriageable kin) accompanies her. This nullifies the obligation of 'Umrah and earns reward. Debt does not prevent 'Umrah unless the debtor is affluent and the debt is due. However, a debt owed by an indigent person or a deferred debt does not prevent it. For a deferred debt, it is recommended to appoint someone to repay it when it becomes due. It is advisable to accept this offer, as it is a provision facilitated by Allah.
