What is the detailed meaning of namṣ (plucking facial hair), why is it prohibited, and what is the authenticity of the hadith: “May Allah curse the one who plucks eyebrows (al-nāmiṣa) and the one who requests it to be done (al-mutanamiṣa)”?

It has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed women who pluck eyebrows (al-namisah) and women whose eyebrows are plucked (al-mutanammisah). Al-namisah is she who shapes the eyebrow to make it thin and even, and al-mutanammisah is she upon whom this act is performed. The reason for its prohibition is that it constitutes altering the creation of Allah Almighty, and it involves deception and fraud. It is incumbent upon a Muslim to comply with the command of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, whether the wisdom behind it is known or unknown.
