The answer

A wife's oath to separate does not affect the marital relationship, because divorce is in the hand of the husband, and nothing results from the wife uttering such a statement. It is advisable to avoid speaking of separation, as it may lead to divorce and the destruction of the family. It is better to retract this oath and remain with the husband, and you owe an expiation for an oath, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever takes an oath and then sees something better than it, let him do that which is better and offer expiation for his oath." The expiation for an oath is feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a slave; and whoever cannot find [the means], then fasting for three days, as stated in Surat Al-Ma'idah, verse 89.
