Is the supplication for a debtor—that the remaining amount of the debt, which is not documented, be in his health and well-being, with mutual satisfaction regarding this matter—considered an answered supplication?
Allah has commanded the documentation of debts to preserve rights. If someone falls short in documenting a debt, relying on the trustworthiness of the debtor, then the debtor must pay the debt when it is due. If the debtor betrays the trust, he is an oppressor and an aggressor, and it is permissible to supplicate against him, for the supplication of the oppressed is answered. However, it is better to forgive and to supplicate for his guidance and the return of the right, and that the supplication be commensurate with the injustice. If the debtor is truthful in his forgetfulness, along with his oath, then it is not permissible to supplicate against him, because the rights-holder is the one who fell short by not documenting and witnessing the debt.
