Is it permissible for a woman to travel without a mahram in pursuit of knowledge?

It is not permissible for a woman to travel without a mahram, even if it is for the purpose of study or advancing research, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel for a day and a night unless she has a hurmah (mahram) with her." And his saying: "It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel for three nights unless she has a dhū mahram (a male relative whom she cannot marry) with her." Consensus has been narrated on the prohibition of a woman traveling without a mahram, except for Hajj and Umrah, or exiting the land of polytheism, or fleeing captivity.
