Is it permissible to marry a man who does not have a beard?

Shaving the beard or smoking does not invalidate the marriage contract (nikah). Apparent sins do not invalidate the contract, with the exception of zina (fornication/adultery) by one of the spouses, on which there is a difference of opinion among scholars.

Nevertheless, a person of religious commitment should be given precedence and married. The righteous person who does not smoke and does not shave his beard is more worthy than others. If a righteous man is available, he should be preferred over a dissolute one.

It is not a condition for the validity of marriage that both spouses be perfectly upright (عدلين), for if that were a condition, many people would be unable to marry.
