What should one do who sleeps through the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, wakes up at the Maghrib adhan, and fears that the time for Maghrib will expire?
Wasting a prayer by letting its time elapse is a grave matter for which Allah has threatened with "Ghayy," which is a valley in Hell. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned sleeping through a prayer as one of the causes of torment in the grave.
Ibn Mas'ud said: "Whoever wishes to meet Allah tomorrow as a Muslim, let him observe these prayers wherever they are called out... And verily, we used to see ourselves, and no one would stay behind from them except a hypocrite whose hypocrisy was well-known."
It is necessary to take the means that help one wake up for prayer, and it is not permissible to intentionally abandon it under the excuse of sleep when it is possible to wake up. One should balance work with fasting and acts of worship, or take leave if necessary. Staying up late, which causes one to miss prayer, is forbidden. Parents must cooperate in waking their children for prayer.
If the time for two prayers has passed due to a severe excuse, they should be made up in their proper order, unless there is a fear of the second prayer's time expiring, in which case one should start with it.
