Is the sin of one who openly commits a sin greater than the sin of one who secretly commits it? What is the ruling on someone who listens to music loudly, such that those around him can hear it? Is he sinful for listening to it and for those around him listening to it? Does this fall under inviting to evil and misguidance?

He who openly commits a sin is more sinful than he who conceals it, because in addition to committing the sin, he combines defiance and contempt. This involves disrespect towards the right of Allah, His Messenger, and the righteous believers. He might also entice people to imitate him, thus bearing the sin of his act and the sin of those who imitate him. As for one who denounces the actions of someone openly playing music in his heart, there is no sin upon him; rather, he is rewarded.
