Do ghosts or spirits appear at the scene of the murdered or deceased, and is there any proof of that from the Quran and Sunnah?

There is nothing in Islamic law to indicate the validity of the belief that the spirit of the deceased hovers around their grave. Rather, this was among the claims of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) that Islamic law abrogated, such as their claim that a hammah (worm) emerges from the head of a murdered person whose blood revenge has not been taken, crying out, "Give me water!" or that the hammah is a bird from which they augur ill, or that the bones of the deceased transform into a flying hammah. These are false beliefs that Islam came to nullify, whereas it is stated in Islamic law that the souls of martyrs are in the crops of green birds in Paradise.
