Is the report true concerning the pledge of allegiance given by the Companion Amr ibn al-Hamiq al-Khuza'i under the tree, and his stabbing of Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) nine times, and his saying: "Three for Allah and six for something within myself"?

It is not sound to claim that Amr ibn al-Hamiq pledged allegiance under the tree, because he embraced Islam after Hudaybiyyah or during the Farewell Pilgrimage. As for the matter of him stabbing Uthman nine times, it is mentioned in history books, but its narrations are very weak, and their origin goes back to Al-Waqidi and Abu Mikhnaf, both of whom are abandoned in hadith. In addition, there is a third damaged chain of narration containing a narrator who is abandoned and denounced in hadith. Furthermore, historians have attributed what they reported to absolve themselves, and we have previously cautioned against the weakness of historical narrations that slander the Companions.
