Does remembering God in front of the television count as an act of worship during times of chaos? And does refraining from watching television and remembering God while being compelled to do so carry the same reward as abandoning a sin out of fear of God?

There is no obedience to a creature if it involves disobedience to the Creator. Therefore, it is impermissible to obey one's husband in watching or listening to forbidden things, or in attending sinful gatherings. If your husband compels you to sit with him while he watches forbidden things, there is no sin upon you if you lower your gaze and busy yourself away from the idle talk. As for considering the reward for remembering Allah in this situation to be like worship during times of chaos, this is a matter open to consideration and possibility. We hope for abundant good and great reward for whoever abandons what they desire out of fear of Allah and in hope of His reward, as Allah Almighty says: "But as for him who feared the station of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] desire, then indeed, Paradise will be his refuge." And we give glad tidings to the questioner with the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, you will not abandon anything out of fear of Allah Almighty except that Allah will give you something better than it."
