What is the authenticity of the hadith: "Do not cast the pearls of wisdom before swine, for you would wrong them, nor withhold them from their rightful recipients, for you would wrong them"?

This statement is not from the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and it is not permissible to attribute it to him. One must beware of lying about him. Some scholars have drawn attention to the meaning of this phrase. Ibn Hazm said: "Disseminating knowledge to those who are not worthy of it corrupts them." And Al-Shafi'i said: "And he who bestows knowledge upon the ignorant has wasted it... And he who withholds it from those deserving has indeed wronged."
