Does enjoyment of the tamattuʿ (form of Hajj) cease by departing from Mecca to Jeddah after performing ʿUmrah and before Hajj, and does this entail that the hady (sacrifice) is no longer obligatory? Is it permissible to perform ṭawāf and saʿī for Hajj on the eighth day of Dhul-Hijjah, or should saʿī be performed after ṭawāf al-ifāḍah on the Day of Sacrifice? And what should be said when intending iḥrām?

If you reside in Jeddah, then according to some scholars, you are considered among those present at Masjid al-Haram, and thus the sacrifice (dam) for mut'ah (pilgrimage) is not obligatory for you. However, the Malikis hold that those present at Masjid al-Haram are specifically the people of Makkah, and no sacrifice is required of you because you returned to your country.

According to the view that those present at Masjid al-Haram are the people of Makkah, you may perform tamattu', qiran, or ifrad Hajj. A sacrifice is obligatory for you if you perform qiran or tamattu'. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen holds that those present at Masjid al-Haram are those who are within the boundaries of the Haram. Based on this, the people of Jeddah and Ta'if are required to offer a sacrifice (hady) if they perform tamattu'.

If you perform tamattu', you perform 'Umrah and then remain in Makkah until the Day of Tarwiyah to assume ihram for Hajj. If you perform ifrad or qiran, you perform the tawaf al-qudum (arrival circumambulation) and then perform the sa'i (ritual walk) thereafter, or you may delay the sa'i. You are required to offer a hady if you perform qiran or tamattu', but no hady is required if you perform ifrad Hajj.
