It is advised to strive in inviting the wife to Islam, while paying attention to two matters: First, the impermissibility of attending gatherings that include falsehoods, such as rituals of disbelief and drinking alcohol. Second, the obligation to prevent the wife from corrupting the children and habituating them to customs that violate Islam. If it is possible to adhere to these two matters, then there is no harm in retaining the wife; otherwise, divorce is necessary to safeguard the religion and the children's religion.
