How can I help guide my husband who does not pray, drinks alcohol, and may have married another woman, knowing that separation from him is difficult due to the children, and that I see myself as part of the problem for not being sexually responsive to him at the beginning of our marriage, and knowing that verbal attempts are useless?

If the husband does not pray, it is not permissible for the wife to remain under his authority or to allow him access to herself, while it is permissible to exert efforts for his guidance. Attempts can be made to guide him by bringing tapes that speak about the swift passing of life and the transience of this world, the dangers of following desires, and reminding him of death, the Day of Judgment, Paradise, and Hellfire, and the blessings of obedience and the ill consequences of disobedience. Also, some preachers, righteous people, and the imam of the mosque can contact him, and an attempt can be made to connect him with good company that will assist him in righteousness.
