Did Allah Almighty destine for each person their spouse? Do disobedience and obedience play a role in changing destiny? Is it permissible to supplicate that a specific girl be made to love a young man and become his future wife?

Belief in Divine Decree (Al-Qadar) is one of the pillars of faith. It has four levels: Allah's eternal knowledge of everything, the recording of that in Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz (the Preserved Tablet), His encompassing will, and His creation of all beings. Belief in Divine Decree does not contradict human will and effort in pursuing means, for Allah has not informed anyone of what will happen to them, and thus, one must strive and exert effort. As for the effect of obedience and disobedience on destiny, what is in Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz does not change. However, what is in the records of the angels may change by Allah's command due to acts of obedience or disobedience. Supplication can avert a decree, and righteousness increases one's lifespan, while sin may deprive one of provision, all of which is within Allah's eternal knowledge.
