Why did the Jews adhere only to the Book of Moses despite the revelation of heavenly books after it, and is it possible that their current books contain something of what David brought?

Allah has ordained belief in all prophets, and has made disbelief in some of them a disbelief that necessitates punishment, as stated in His Almighty saying: "Say, 'We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him,'" and His Almighty saying: "Indeed, those who disbelieve in Allah and His messengers and wish to differentiate between Allah and His messengers and say, 'We believe in some and disbelieve in others,' and wish to adopt a way in between - Those are the disbelievers, truly. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment." The Jews did not adhere to the book of Moses; rather, they lied, distorted, and killed prophets, and their scriptures are not reliable due to the distortion and deceit within them.
