What must my friend do to make up for the days of Ramadan she missed, and does she only have to make them up, or is there an expiation as well? What is the expiation, and to whom should it be given?

A woman must calculate the days she owes and make them up according to her capacity. According to the majority of scholars, she must pay a fidyah (expiation) of feeding one poor person for each day she delays making up, unless she was unaware of the impermissibility of the delay, in which case there is no expiation for her according to the Shafi'is. The fidyah is feeding a poor person, and its مقدار (amount) is one mudd of food according to the Shafi'is and Malikis, and half a saa' according to the Hanbalis.
